April 20 & 24, 2002 - Polishing Touches

Finally scheduled for my Stage Check.  At Ahart (the FBO where I train) they use the Jeppeson curriculum.   This is patterned after Part 141 training - there are 3 stages (see Flight Training).  Each stage ends with a "Stage Check" which is done by a _different_ instructor.  At Ahart the stage checks are done by "lead" instructors - some of whom are or have been FAA examiners.

So before you get to Solo you have to do your Stage I Check.  The Stage Checks are done like simulated Check Rides.  Also in some ways the Stage I Check is the most important because the stage check provides a sanity check on your primary instructor that you are really ready to go up by yourself.

So these two lessons were just polish and review.  We didn't go anywhere because the focus was on just going back and covering everything to make sure it was up to snuff.  Some things like ground reference and steep turns we haven't done in a month or more - so the review is good.
